Dear students, doctoral candidates, alumni, lecturers and advisors,

dear friends of SICSS!

10 years have passed since 2008 when the first doctoral candidates enrolled in SICSS! One year later, in 2009, the first MSc cohort started the study program Integrated Climate System Sciences ICSS. During two funding phases of CliSAP (2007-2018), our Grad School hosted more than 200 doctoral candidates and more than 100 MSc students. This is a perfect occasion to look back on 10 years education in Climate and Earth System Sciences and to celebrate the 10th birthday together with Alumni, active members, lecturers, advisors, and friends.

The focus of our birthday and reunion is on you, our SICSS members. Where did you go? What kind of career did you pursue? A combination of scientific talks and discussion rounds on different career developments will elucidate these questions. Together with the office staff, previous heads and SICSS lecturers  I’m very curious to hear as much as possible of your career journeys.

But we will also look ahead: An increasing number of applications and enrollments but as well as upcoming new projects, in particular the pending proposal for a new Cluster of Excellence, gives reason to think about the future of our programs and about new concepts in teaching and education.

I’m very eager to see all of you again in Hamburg and I look very much forward on vivid discussions, lively interactions and last but not least on a great party full of memories and new inspirations!

Please feel cordially invited! See you soon,

yours Annette Eschenbach
